Miranda Rise began with family, heritage, identity, and the desire to build something that could outlast a single career.
Where Miranda began
My father, Mario Martiniello, grew up in Mirabella Eclano, a town in Campania, southern Italy. My mother, Iolanda, later recorded as Yolanda in the United States, grew up in Grottaminarda, the neighboring town.
My mother left Italy at sixteen. My father left at seventeen. Although they came from neighboring towns, they did not meet until they were both living in the United States.
Neither had access to the educational opportunities many people take for granted, either in Italy or after arriving in the United States. That did not mean they lacked curiosity, ambition, or a willingness to work. They tried many things, adapted to the circumstances in front of them, and built a life together.
During the naming process, elements of those places, names, and sounds came together in Miranda. It is not a literal translation of one town or one person's name. It became a meaningful synthesis of family origins, memory, and identity.
I later learned that Miranda is commonly associated with admirable, or worthy of admiration. That felt like an unexpected connection to the values behind the name.
What Rise means
Rise represents my parents' journey and the example they gave me.
They taught me that where you begin does not have to determine what you can build. They taught me that setbacks and limitations are part of the journey, but they do not have to define where the journey ends.
I have carried that lesson through my own life. I have encountered moments when the next opportunity was not obvious and had to find my own path forward.
That lesson has shaped how I approach growth, leadership, and change: understand the foundation, keep moving, and build toward what is possible.
The journey continues
That same lesson shaped my career. I moved from early technical and commercial work into broader roles across technology, growth, transformation, and leadership. Each stage required learning, persistence, and the willingness to take on a new level of responsibility.
Today, Miranda Rise carries both meanings forward. Miranda is where the journey began. Rise is the belief in what the journey can become.
It is about honoring the foundation, building beyond it, and helping people and organizations become more than they initially believed possible.
