How Miranda Rise works

One experience is not a pervasive problem

A vivid story from a credible person is more persuasive in a room than a distribution is. That is the problem.

One mistake I have seen organizations make is treating a single experience as a pervasive problem.

One employee is frustrated. One customer complains. One sales rep struggles. One team raises a concern.

Those signals matter and should never be ignored.

But they should be investigated before they become the basis for a major change.

Effective leaders look for patterns, root causes, and evidence, not just anecdotes.

The goal is not to dismiss individual feedback. It is to understand whether you are looking at an isolated experience, a local issue, or a systemic problem.

Those three call for completely different responses, and the cost of confusing them runs in both directions.

Treat a systemic problem as an isolated one and it keeps returning, each time as a surprise, each time absorbing another round of attention that could have gone somewhere else.

Treat an isolated one as systemic and you rebuild a process that was working for almost everybody, on the strength of a single vivid account. That second failure is more common than people admit, because a specific story from a credible person is more persuasive in a room than a distribution is.

The way through is not to weigh the anecdote less. It is to ask what else would have to be true if the anecdote were the general case, and then go and look. Usually that takes a day.

Occasionally the anecdote turns out to be the visible edge of something large, and finding that out early is worth considerably more than the day cost.

Because solving a company-wide problem that does not actually exist can be just as disruptive as ignoring one that does.

The best decisions are rarely made from a single data point. They come from understanding the broader pattern.
